MIT interconnects causing degradation of high freqs

Anyone ever heard of MIT interconnects causing degradation of high freqs due to a failure/change in the cable?

I have been troubleshooting reduced high freq output in one channel, and finally eliminated the issue when I replaced MIT T2 interconnects with a pair of AR interconnects. Makes me wonder if a component in the network box failed/changed, or if there was some other issue with one of the MIT interconnects.

In general, can a cable fail or change to the point that it will reduce high freqs?

sure - the simplest explanation for a mere mortal cable made out of wire would be increased capacitance. This will lead to HF rolloff.
That's not necessarily the "root cause" of the problem you've encountered... but the relationship between capacitance and treble attenuation is well established.

Edit: I see it was only one channel, so it would seem you have a bad cable. You can send it back to MIT for repair.

Passive components can fail as well as active components. Do your cables have switches to allow input impedence selection? If so then try moving the switch a few times to insure it didn't get dirty or somehow switched.

The T2's do not have switches.

Yeah, just one channel, and when I switch cables on the amp side, the issue follows the cable.

I've had the T2's for 10+ years, and just recently noticed this. It is fairly subtle, but when I enlisted my wife for some testing, she could clearly hear the difference when I switched cables back and forth between channels, and when I panned left to right with mono recordings.

Thanks, was not aware that they have a lifetime warranty. I am the original owner, though I doubt I kept the receipt this many years.
