This preamp popped up locally & I'm very interested. The price seems fair at $1,200 but I saw a few used ones with the Magnum upgrade ($500 upgrade) at $1,400 so I'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger. Is this price really that good or should I pass and wait for one with the Magnum upgrade to come around again?

    If it were me, I'd hold out for a Magnum version of the Perseus, or pop on a 99 Magnum such as in the link. The 99 is a killer pre that can be fitted with a tube phono section also.

    Congrats on the Perseus, It has a lot of great features for a tube preamp in it's price category. Adjustable phono section and HT By-pass, good stuff!

    "If" you ever get the bug to upgrade, you can always have the Magnum upgrades performed later on, enjoy!

    Yeah, good for you. That is supposed to a a very nice unit...one fella even liked it more than the 99.

    Audiodude, nice preamp. me knowing nothing about tube gear maybe you could answer what some of the items shown are. I get the smaller white boxes must be the original tubes beyond that, whats the black box w/ the wires coming from it and those white semi circle things shown clips of some sort? See, I i really don't know but not afraid to ask.

    @leftwinger57,

    The white semi circle rings are Herbies Tube Dampers.

    The black box with the the wires coming out is the power supply for the preamp

    Rogue does make gear and the customer service is top notch.
