Built-in DVD Digital Decoder...

is this feature needed to get "true" surround sound from a DVD Player? I am
new to the DVD scene and was wondering if this feature is needed, not many DVD players(atleast that I have seen) offer this feature. Please give advice.

If your receiver already has a decoder, the DVD player doesn't need to have one.
