Now that I have some Monitor 12's for my Ht system and 5jr's for rear channel operation I am going to move the Monitor 10's or the RTA 12's into my bedroom. Generally I'll be using them for when I sleep with music and blast it while on the exercise bike or in the shower. I'd like a phono input because I know I'll have a TT in there eventually. Will be used for radio and iPod docked playback. Maybe a cd later. I'd like to find a good used receiver to power them well. Have been looking around and stumbled across this:

HARMAN KARDON HK-3470

and these:

NAD C370
NAD C372

If I went new maybe this:

Harman Kardon HK 3770

Basically looking for suggestion's on what to keep an eye out for on CL and or eBay. Would like to spend no more then $100. I know I'm dreaming right? Thanks! Glenn

If your willing to go vintage I would recommend a Sansui AUD 11 ii. It is one of my favorite SS integrated Amps. It has a great phono stage to support MM and MC carts. The amp is conservatively rated at 130 RMS and as clean of power as ever put out with the signature Sansui warmth.

Did I mention I wanted a remote? I'd like to be able to at least adjust volume and radio station from my bed.

If you go new I'll say this with much bias.

As a Harman Kardon user and lover of my two receivers, a HK 3375 and a HK 3490, I'd personally avoid the 3770 at all costs. Switching power supply, light weight and the lack of the important plus features of my two, the pre-out/main in jacks. That said, personally I think HK in neutering the line-up. I've also heard the 3770 on decent speakers and was underwhelmed. Go find a used 3490 if you can it's a much better unit and there is still the odd retailer with new ones for similar prices.

That 3490 sounds like its about what I'm looking for. I've been out of the audio world for the last 15 years or so and just getting back into it and am unaware of what would fit my bill. HK has always had a good rep with me as did Onkyo and Yamaha. However I'm seeing a lot about Onkyo having issues. Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming. I know this might take a while to find the "perfect" deal for me.

What are you looking for an integrated amp or receiver? For $100 you will have better luck finding a used receiver than a decent integrated. Thread title states you are looking for a integrated amp.

Just trying to find something to replace my ageing Kenwood KR-V8020. It's got issues. As for the Radio comment, I'd never know who Cage the Elephant, or Matt Nathanson, or other new artist are with out it! ;) I like the sounds of the HK 3490. I doubt I'll find one for $100 though.

The Sherwood bypasses all bells and whistles and offers a build like you used to get about 20 years ago. Its a very budget-friendly option for those who want sound quality over functionality. It offers everything you say you want and nothing more.

I sold mine to a member for $40 and kind of wish I had held onto it.

Now that is exactly what I'd like to find! A deal like that!

You can get three new 2 channel receivers that do a nice job at a low price. The Sherwood RX-4109 rated at 100 watts/channel, it
has inputs for CD, Phono, Aux and tape. The aux and tape have input and output, an AM FM tuner and a remote. It sells for around
$100 wth some deals possible. The Sherwood RX-4503 does has the same basic performance and wattage, but does not have a
phono input. Instead, it has a sub-woofer output. Going for around $120. The third receiver is the Yamaha R-S210 receiver. The
Yamaha does not have a phono input and has CD, Line 1,Line 2 and Line 3 inputs, the Line 3 input also has an output for recording
purposes. All of these receivers are not high current models and are rated for 8 ohm speakers. I have used them all and they do a
nice job. I happen to be running my Yamaha R-S201 with 4 ohm Polk Monitor 4 speakers and it hasn't complained at all and runs
cool. The Yamaha is going for about $150.

I have an "open box" Sherwood on the way. Going to give it a try. If I don't like it I'll find something else and let one of my boys have it and find him some cheap small book shelf speakers to go with it. Thanks for the suggestions. When I upgrade my Denon HT receiver I'll give this to him anyway. Either way I think its a good place to start. Anything is better then my Kenwood that goes in and out when you touch the volume knob.

    Deoxit is your friend.

Tried that and even took it to the closest HiFi repair place and they couldn't get it any better either and said it needed the knob replaced. Only it's not available.

I got lucky and scored a minty Yamaha AX-596 on fleabay for 60.00 last year. Just a suggestion, but might be worth keeping your eyes open for one of these vintage units. 596, 592 or the CA models.

Do they have remotes? How old are they?

Sherwood will be here tomorrow I hope. I saw one of these on fleabay but the auction went way above $100.00! There are a couple on there now for $250 and $295. Hell I came across a set of Monitor 7's in Illinois that sold for $25! Local pick up only! Why the hell cannot people around me sell stuff like that???? Eventually I'm thinking I'll get the Yamaha RX A1020 7.2 Channel Receiver to replace my weak Denon in the HT system.

I might suggest a Sony STR-DA4ES. These have an extraordinarily good sound, at 110 WPC, plenty of power, and can be found for under $100.00. I have two, one in my garage and one in by basement. Best deals can be found without the original remote, but that's OK, just about any Sony AV remote will work fine. Yes, it is big, so if space is a concern, maybe not a good choice. This does not sound like most AV Sony receivers, it has a clean, neutral, life-like reproduction that you usually have to spend way more to get. Nice one for SACD, too. Even has 7.1 inputs.

If it was me and I wanted something decent integrated, I would look for a used Outlaw RR2150. Its got all the features you want for a decent stereo setup, has a USB input as well, bass management, pre-outs, etc...

But its gonna kill your budget but then you may never need to upgrade so it may save you some serious coin as well.
