RTi6's vs FXi3's
I am putting together the following system:
Yamaha RX-V1400 receiver
Polk RTi8's front
Polk CSi3 Center
PSW505 Sub
I was going to get the RTi6's for the back but they are 14 1/4 inches deep. Although they sound good they will stick out 14 inches from the wall and will be an eyesore. The FXi3's only stick out 7 1/2 inches. I have not actually heard them though.
Has anyone been able to compare the 2 speakers? I would say the system will be 60/40 Home theater.

If these are to be the side surrounds I'd use the FXi3's/5's if they are going behind you.
If these are to be the back surrounds in a 7.1 setup I'd use the RTi6's.
I swapped my 38's and actually use both of the above now ... -
I've got the FXi3's as rear surrounds and really like them. I used to have directional speakers and found that I prefer the more difuse soundfield of the FX's. To me it makes it sound a bit more "real".A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

it also depends on what you will be listening to, the direct speakers, rti6's, will be better for multi channel music while the fx speakers will be better for movies because of their ability to diffuse the rear sound field. you wont be disappointed either way but for movies id definitely go with the fx speakers

Good point. I should have mentioned that I use mine only for HT.A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Thanks for the replies. I will be mounting the speakers on the side walls so the sound will come from either side of the couch. The back walls have doors and I can't mount there. I would say I will get more use out of the speakers watching movies on a Hitachi 65T500. Music will come second. I can't seem to find a local store that has them to listen to.
Has anyone heard the FXi3's???
