Dont need anything crazy, but wondering what folks out there are using for their outlets.

Lets put a number on it just to make life easier for folks.

Looking at less than 75 bucks, new or used.

I know Jesse likes the PS AUDIO - POWER PORT CLASSIC.

Probably 15 amp outlets as for now I cant run dedicate lines that would be 20 amp. Unless I can install a 20 amp outlet and use it on a 15 amp line... in which case a 20 amp outlet is fine as long as its under my budget.

Shunyata SR-Z1 outlets, work on both 15 and 20 amps. The breaker is the difference on those lines. Buy from The Cable Company.

You can use any 20 amp capable outlet with a 15 amp line, so the PS Audio Power Port would do nicely.

If you can find them, I recommend a Power Port Premier. I have used both, and prefer the Premeir. Unfortunately, they haven't been made for quite some time now and are somewhat difficult to find. They are worth the search/wait, however. Get the black colored PPP's only as the gray colored ones are not made of the same material(s).

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Gotcha. I wondered if that was the case.

I am not in a hurry for this by any means, its simply an upgrade before my next upgrade I want (dedicated lines).

I know that outlets by themselves wont make AS much of a difference as a dedicated line, but it saves me some cost later on down the line when it comes time to put those in as the outlet is already of a high quality.

Its also MUCH cheaper than a dedicated line and we just blew the load on buying our fencing materials so we can enclose our entire back yard this weekend (gotta love DIY).

Then my wife has some other upgrades she would like to do, and we don't have too many years on our HVAC unit but hopefully somewhere in there we can look into some dedicated lines. From a breaker box perspective I have room for them.

Going to second the PS Audio Power Port Classic.

And if you buy from Music Direct, you can get them for $37.50 if you buy 2 or more.

Is this what you ended up with? I know Paul (hochpt21) is running them as well.

Betting Jesse has a power outlet snagged from a UFO that is connected directly into the grid at the powerstation providing him 1.21 gigawatts of power

Yessir. Got one already with 2 more on the way. 1 will be the dedicated 20a line for the amp with the other 2 on another dedicated 20a line for everything else.

    Hey Dan,
I have 3 PS audio receptacles I bought from Jesse awhile back if you are interested. Recently upgraded to Furutech GTX-D's and really don't need these any longer. They are 20 amp, which can also be used for 15 amp. Give me a call if you are interested.

Doug... I may give you a call on this....

ONLY thing I am unsure of is if my house is wired with aluminum (as its "newer" construction), which concerns me ONLY due to the quote below found in a Stereophile review:
Examine those wires carefully: Ideally, they'll be solid (unstranded) copper, ranging in size from 14 to 10 gauge, but if they're aluminum—as they may very well be, especially in new housing—stop what you're doing, screw everything back together, and call the electrician. Installing a high-quality outlet on an aluminum-wired circuit is probably pointless, and PS Audio joins me in recommending against it.

Aluminum isn't very commonplace around here. Our place was built in 2008 and is all copper except for the mains.

I thought aluminum wiring had been banned due to increased fire hazards. Guess I was wrong.

It has been in CA for 20-30 odd years. Still can have aluminum for the main. But inwall has to be copper.

Thats what I thought too, but keep in mind that review was written in 2003....

However my house was built in 96.... so you never know till you open it up and check.
