Henry, you used to live in St. Louis, right? My company, American TV, is going to be enter the St. Louis market this year and is looking for people to transfer there to help get everything off the ground.
American TV sells home theater, furniture, appliances, and home office/computer products. We are opening three stores and a distribution center in the area. The distribution center has already been built in Earth City. The stores will be in Bridgeton, Fenton, and O'Fallon, IL.
What do you think would be the best place to go? Most people I've talked to have said Fenton because it is growing a lot and the people are pretty well off. O'Fallon is growing fast as well, and I guess O'Fallon and Bridgeton both have shopping centers near them.
Anyway, just seeing what you thought of the area. I've got a couple of weeks before I need to get my application in for a transfer, if I decide to go. All the sports teams makes it appealing for me, as well as the $6000 they would give me to move.

fireshoe, I live in Eureka which is about 15 min from Fenton. The big thing is to be in Gravois Bluffs. Thats the largest strip mall in all of St. Louis, Lowes, CC, Ultimate Electronics, Walmart, Target, Etc........ You might want to look into Eureka as well. They are building some new residential and Commercial areas. Sams, Lowes or Homedepot, Kohls and so on. It wont be Gravois Bluffs but it will be big and thats still St. Louis County. Figure they are building 1300 home a mile a way from this new developement plus the Legends is right next store to this developement. So you are talking 3000 homes all between 250K-500K and most of them I am sure like nice TV and stereo. Thanks for the reply. Fenton has been where I am leaning towards. I remember my manager mentioning Gravois Bluff. I think the store will be in that neighborhood. That's cool that they are building so much nearby. Sounds like you won't have to go far to get new Polks now.

fireshoes, congrats on the oportunity!
I never lived in St. Loui but have drank many beers there and from what a saw I really liked. Good solid town with many great people. I love the Hill which is a little Italian district.
I never lived nor worked there so I'm not your best source of opinions.
Stay in touch and we'll have to get together sometime.

Hey, here's a blast from the past. Actually I'm moving this weekend. I'm going to work at the Bridgeton store. The store should open in about a month and a half. I'll be living in St. Charles.
I don't like the website a whole lot, but it's www.americantv.com. In audio we have Denon, Yamaha, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, and a little Sony, Pioner and JVC for receivers. Speakers are Polk Audio, Klipsch Reference, Infinity Primus and Beta, Bose (woohoo!), and DCM. The rumor mill has a picking up another higher end line soon. On the video side, we have Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Toshiba, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Samsung, RCA, LG, Sharp, and Optoma.
Anyway, I move my stuff this weekend, work one more week at the Des Moines store, and then have a couple weeks off before I start at Bridgeton. Maybe I'll see you there some time!
