    Dude, I heard the tore down The International Market in favor of a mall but are "saving the Banyan tree" that was in the middle of it.

    I thought The International Market WAS a mall?

    I know what The International Market was. It was mostly junk but some of it was really cool. It was a teensy bit of reality in the middle of the Waikiki fantasy. It was just cool 'cause it was a stark contrast to the high dollar environment of Waikiki. Now it's just going to be a higher cost version of the Ala Moana Center with a tree in the middle of it. They said "We hope it'll bring residents back into the area" which is a load of BS because the residents don't go to Waikiki because it costs an arm and a leg. Putting an expensive shopping center in the middle of an expensive place won't get anybody who already avoids the place back in.

    what part of O'ahu do you live? I live in Mililani... And I agree, I HATE driving to Waikiki or even Ala Moana Center. Traffic pretty much sucks all over the island no matter the time... Road construction and the horrible condition of the surface...
