Finally got home theater set up.
Finally got home a week ago after being on the road since Jan 5. Unboxed my (new to me) pre/pro and amp, as well as the rti12's. Hooked everything up. My home office was literally filled with boxes... (cords/speaker wire/power cords/components/etc.). Spent about 3 hours setting everything up. I discovered to my dismay that the entertainment center that we bought as an anniversary present takes up too much space to properly place the big rti12's. So after much discussion, (and compromise on my part!) she decided to go with rti6's as mains (literally on the "bookshelf"), and the 12's will be relegated to surround duty.... overkill, I suppose. Also am compromising on subwoofer for now. Picked up a klipsch ksw12 to serve temporarily with the rti6's until the 4 cu ft sub can be built. I am truly astonished at the sound of the 12's as front mains. If I didn't have a young grandson over frequently, I'd just leave them out in front of the entertainment center, but I don't care to see the veneer get abused as I'm sure it would there. Did a little listening test, just to see how everything sounded. The pre/pro and amp are simply great. More power than I'll ever be able to use, and DTS listening of The Eagles, Hell Freezes Over was better than I imagined it could be. Pink Floyd's DSOTM was spectacular. "Prometheus" was amazing. This is my first system with no tone controls, but I really don't think I'd change anything. The sub should help out quite a bit in assisting the RTi6's with front stage duty. Will try to get some pics up this weekend while at the house. I've been wanting a decent home theater since I first experienced a Proceed AVP with some THX MK satellites and the hifi store. Only took me 22 years! Some things are worth the wait.
