I have to be careful not to preach
    I can't pretend that I can teach
And yet I've lived your future out
By pounding stages like a clown
And on the dance floor broken glass
    and bloody faces slowly pass
the numbered seats in empty rows
It all belongs to me, you know...

(from The Punk Meets the Godfather, on Side 2)

That said... IMO, Side 3 (5:15, Sea and Sand, Drowned and Bellboy) is one of the strongest rock 'n' roll album sides extant...

It's interesting - I've got the MFSL Masterdisc edition of the CD, playing these days via Apple Lossless wireless.

Even when I used to listen to the physical disc I always thought the mastering SUCKED. Thought it kind of sucked up until recently, actually.

Now with the Psvane T series tubes and my 705 speakers, I think it sounds pretty damned good!

Been listening to it throughout the day here...

The original vinyl pressings (US) aren't bad at all -- I cannot remember ever having heard an original UK pressing (unfortunately).

... all three of Townshend's performances are on Youtube (and they are, IMO, superb) -- the Won't Get Fooled Again (at least the one I've seen) is edited (shortened), unfortunately.

Waiting on delivery of the Japanese SACD-SHM version. The redbook I bought years ago sounds a bit lifeless, so I'm looking forward to this one.

Quadrophenia. The Real Me is one of my all time favorite tracks. Moon and Entwhistle just explode, one of the best rhythm sections ever.

I've got the vinyl of SP's Ball... sure wish it was on CD. :(

Looks like the "Other Ball" is available.

I was wonderin' that, too ;-)
The original 12" sounds pretty good - a little thin, but not bad.
There was an album of the comedy songs from the benefit, as well -- which is also rather entertaining.

I have a flashbulb memory of picking up The Secret Policeman's Ball - the Music one beautiful, warm "President's Day" (probably 1979... maybe 1980) at Record and Tape Traders in Towson. It was hard to find... but worth finding.

Guess I ought to spin it, soon.
