what should i do?
I am pretty happy with my home theater set up that I have right now but I want to timbre match everything.. I am considering going with the tsx440's for my towers but no sub or going with the tsx220 bookshelfs and 2 subs.. What would be a better buy?... I am about 50/50 on movies and music so.. Not sure what would be the best route to take.. Any opinions?

Get the 440's now and add a sub at a later date.

I would highly recommend bookies and dual subs, especially if you're gong to get decent subs. Those towers won't go that low, even for music, but will especially be lacking on movies. However, before you go with dual subs make sure that you can properly set them up. You will want either a receiver with preouts or subs with speaker line level inputs. That way you can run stero LR subs, with one only having the signal for the left channel, and the other for the right. You will then use the built-in crossover in the sub to blend them properly with the bookshelves.

Well I just placed an order for 2 brand new Onkyo SKW-204 subwoofers today!! I think they will do wonderfully with my set up.. My father has the 204 and that thing packs a punch and does it very clean. I opted for 2 mainly because of the visual effect but also to disperse the low end more evenly throughout my living room.. Cannot wait!!!Samsung 51 inch plasma

You better start reading on how to set up and dial in 2 subs in a room.Political Correctness'.........defined
