San Diego - Fires all over the place

Been a very stressful couple of days here in the San Diego area - started with a fire close to where I work and live yesterday - and today up to 7 fires popped up and have been burning up homes and causing stress the county.

It has been brutally hot, dry, and windy - perfect conditions for fires and as the fires pop up - perfect conditions for crazies who like to start fires....

I've got the family packed up and ready to evacuate - just watching the non-stop coverage on the news.

Thursday is supposed to be the hottest yet, but with fewer winds.

Crossing my fingers...

Hang in there my friend and bless your family and house.
I hate hurricane season, but I really hate fire and tornado season as you folks don't really have any warning.

    I hate fires too.

There is haze across all points to east west north and south.

Today our house is not in the path of any fires, but we learned in the 2007 fire that could change in an instant.

Gonna be on fire watch tonight - got the family van topped off w/ gas.

Its the crazies that worry me - all of the canyon areas are dry as a bone and just 'ripe' to go up in flames.

I have a call into Doug(dpowell) but have not heard back. He lives in Escondito, and there is a lot of activity out that way. Prayer for all in that area.

Good luck. Of course the lack of rain this winter is really aggravating this. I expect this to be the summer from hell with the whole state on fire. Sure hope the El Ni

God bless all of you in the San Diego area. My sister's friend lives in that area and the fire is burning houses right down the street from her house. Stay safe!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

At the end of Wednesday, there was some talk on the tv shows expressing what most people were thinking - gotta be arson. Just too many fires on the same day. Arson investigators are going to start looking.

Meanwhile - today will be the hottest of the week at 100+ in the inland areas.

I'm in the Penasquitos area - right on the Preserve - if that catches fire (or some crazy sets one) - well.....

School was cancelled today for my sons' school, the wife is staying home, bags are packed, car fueled up.

Will have the live news feeds going at work, so watch and wait - see what today brings.

MANY thanks to the first responders and fire fighters - brutally hot and hard job - but they have been saving lives and property.

Hope everything goes well for you man.

If you haven't thought of this already, go around your house and photograph EVERYTHING you own. Photograph the home itself, and vehicles that will be left behind, etc. I realize its impossible to load/move everything in a situation like this---so get photographic evidence. You'd be amazed how much stuff you will forget if you have to make claim.

Don't forget critical medications, documents, computers, and irreplaceables.

Bev & I went thru this a few years ago during the Monument Fire.

Things seem more calm this morning and the firefighters are making progress containing. They certainly hopped right on all of the fires that were springing up everywhere yesterday. Hopefully things don't flare up today. The family and I are prepared just in case....

Doug - good to hear you and the family are alright.

Man, it has been crazy here. I was driving home from work yesterday and saw smoke from 3 other fires that weren't being reported yet. I was shaking my head...no way....

I, too, hope that today no more fires pop up and the firefighters can get the ones burning under control.

Used to live in a wonderful house in Carlsbad that was on a steep hill near the famous golf club. We could see a fire and smoke one
day in the distance and it scared me totally. There is not much you can do but leave.

I'm in in North County about 5 miles away from the San Marcos fire. Pretty scary stuff. We could see the fire from our front porch last night.

Stay safe and cool out there today guys!

This morning (Friday) I woke up to the smell of burning. Got up on the roof to look around and couldn't see any smoke rising from any of the local mountains. I wonder if it could actually have drifted all the way from down the coast where the big fires are.

Plus, did you see that two stupid young men were caught trying to start even more fires near San Diego? They were not successful and local residents caught them trying to flee from their second attempt. I hope they are sentenced to 30 years in a fire fighting squad.

I lived a year in El Cajon and a couple in La, Mesa I talked to my mom and she said the nearest fire to La, Mesa was in Santee and that she was safe. I hope the hills across from her in Lemon Grove don't spark up all that dried up manzanita brush would burn pretty fast stay safe everyone.
