You can search eBay for past sales.

I disagree, $1000 stock in great condition. There is no other full range speaker that can beat it for the cost. Notice the full range part.

It's not about what their sound evaluates to, what matters is what they sell for.
Check recent sales are FS section and you'll find fully upgraded with RDO's and crossover went for $900 so stock, max I will consider is around $650-$700.

That price is not normal so can not be used as a guideline. That was a fantastic deal. Also condition matters much.

I have never seen these near us in upsate, NY so I would have to say $1,000 stock would be a good price if in good condition. Its not like you will find that kind of sound for cheaper, not even close. Then again, our taxes are high enough to to make any normal, rational human being go insane. Its flat out socialism up here.

If you can find them for cheaper, good for you. I know what they "could" sell for but I tend to pay more for SDA's in good condition. Other speakers in that price range don't do it for me.

I drove 50 mi. each way and paid $850.00 for a mint condition pair that included the I/C cable and owners manual. If I'd had to, I would have easily paid up to $1200.00 for such a pair. This model rarely becomes available in my area, and almost never as nice as the ones I found.

I got mine for $750. Older model with the 6511/6513 drivers, came with the transformer interconnect, the wall mount, "spikes," manual. No apparent damage until a couple of days before I bought them, some kid poked some of the dust covers, and tweeter domes. That's what started me on working over the tweeter section.

He means the 2.3's, not the 2.3TL's.

It's hard to comprehend their value until you hear them. Once they are modded, you'd have to spend a LOT more $$ to get the kind of performance the 2.3TL's are capable of. Someone would have to offer me an awful lot of money to convince me to let mine go.

Once you start the mods you get addicted. It becomes a competition with yourself to make them as good as they can be, which is pretty danged good! See my sig . . .

I have done the XO's with sonicaps/mills, gimpod's circuit boards, RDO tweeters and Larry's rings. At some point, I'll get around to dynamatting the drivers and maybe some day way down the road I'll do the inductors.

    Deaf,
My personal story involves flying from Alaska to Seattle, buying them there for $1000.00 in primo shape, renting a truck and driving them to family in the Portland Oregon area, then returning to Alaska. They are still in storage and waiting for me.
Why the Lewis and Clark expedition? Where I live, you are more likely to buy mukluks and ivory than you are speakers of any kind, let alone SDA's.
So it all depends on your position.
I know I thought it was worth every penny and may fall under the longest trip to get them on record. Or not, but it was fun.

I'm new to the forum, so other than newer tweeters, I'm not fully aware of the other performance differences the 2.3TL's hold over the 2.3's. I've seen a number of 2.3's sell on eBay & CL in the ~ $800 price range. Not sure how much of a price difference the TL's command, if any. But like dpowell mentioned, what else are you going to find with this kind of sound quality + the spatial sound stage in this kind of price range? and this is from a guy that for the last few years was trying to find a way to score a set of used Thiel CS3.7's at a fire sale price....which is totally unrealistic. I finally realized that what I needed to do was bump myself up on the Polk SDA model line. My history is I've been a SDA2 owner since 1985, recently purchased SDA1C's that I'm going through.... and now looks like I may be a new 2.3TL owner as well...

Thanks Mike. I really look forward to experiencing both the 1C's (for the family room) and the 2.3TLs ( the main event - living room!) I've only been listening to my Gen1 SDA2's for the past ~ 19yrs so very excited to see what the later gens (and in particulare the SRS) will present. I see you have quite the collection of Polks yourself.

Can anyone respond to whether there is typically any type of price difference between the 2.3's and the 2.3TL's? If one goes to make all the mods, do all the (subtle) performance gains of the TLs pretty much vanish when fully modding the 2.3's? Curious.

    I bought a nice working pair of 2.3's, not 2.3tl's for $500.00

But as soon as I spot a pair of tl's for sale I am going to buy them, then start doing all the mods.

I would buy them if I could find them (in perfect cosmetic and operational condition) for $1200.00

That would round out my SDA & SRT collection quite nicely.
