Dr. Spec, what do you think about using a corner of a room as a base inclosure? I was going to use 2 15in subs make a baffle & angle it in the corner, that way two walls will make a triangle base inclosure. I have seen people use closets this way also, would the room react to much? thanks. Anyone can chime in!!

What you are proposing is a large sealed sub with a small footprint and large Vb. By using a larger area like a closet or basement you could have a IB sub ( about ten times the total Vas). You should calculate the system Q to see what alignment it is first. I wonder how you could brace it properly. What 15" drivers are you thinking of using?

Here is Mike Knapp`s infinite baffle sub with Tempests. The baffle would probably be similar to your project.

Another idea if you have the space is the EBS Tempest shown here: http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/VentedTempestApplications.PDF

I built it with the 15" Tempest driver, two 4" ports and a 250W amp and I get 120dB peaks at the listening position. It has more bass than I will ever need in a 3000+ cubic foot room. Just another suggestion.

I think its a terrible idea. First of all, drywall is not very thick and not very hard. Second of all, the whole wall would resonate because you couldnt isolate just one section which you are using as walls for your enclosure from the rest of the wall. You would have issues with keeping the enclosure airtight, among other things. Why don't you just build a tall sub and put it in the corner, MDF is not so expensive that you can't afford 2 more walls if you can afford the other 3.
