Just went out to my wife's Accord to get a book and noticed her right turn signal is flashing..well, very slowly flashing that is. Last time she was in the car was yesterday afternoon so I am guessing the battery is about toast. Tried two different fobs to open the doors and nothing. Tried the fob on the trunk release..nothing. Don't want to try a key in the lock as am afraid the alarm might go off which at this time of night would not be a good thing...

Thoughts??

Have your tools ready, and use the key to open door. If alarms goes off disconnect the battery.

Using the key is not going to set off the alarm.

if the factory alarm is set I would think using the key to open the door would set it off ?
Sounds like the alarm was going off and now the battery is very drained .
I am not a expert by far but have seen similiar on a vw I think the headlights were left on and when they turned off the ignitioin key they went off but the tailights were on and slowely killed the battery .

In my Sequoia using the key does set off the alarm but putting the key in the ignition and turning without cranking turns if off. So u can stop it quick...

If the battery was/is almost dead, how loud do you think the alarm will really be?

Also when you put the key in the door turn the key twice as you would to unlock it, that should disable the alarm. My Lexus was like this, haven't tried my Tacoma..

Hope the OP figures it out.

In a related note. My remote died for my Jeep. When I use the key to unlock the door, the alarm goes off until I can get the key in.

I changed the battery on the remote and it worked once, but not again.

This may depend on the vehicle, but for every car that I own:

    1) The remote fob or Keyless Entry are convenience features, so ...
    2) Using the key "manually" in the door also sends the correct electronic signal to turn off the alarm instantly.
    Alea jacta est!

okie doke, opened the car door ok...attached the jumper cables from the portable battery starter I have, flicked the switch to on and the alarm went off. Tried again with the key in the door, turned twice, put key in ignition, turned the portable on..alarm went off. so did the key in the ignition, turned twice, then flicked the switch to on...whoo hoo, no alarm. But, portable battery was too low to charge so, brought my subie around, hooked up the jumpers and the Accord started and all is well. Drove it around for awhile and then parked and turned it back on and everything was fine.

What happened was the GPS fell off the window right onto the hazards switch, they had been on for about 30 hours :)

    Thanks for the help everyone!
