Cosmetic Surgery

The stock versions were a bit too plain Jane for me. In this first pic I already added a piece of chrome pinstripe tape to the volume control knob notch because I couldn't see it being all black. I had also installed the optional wooden high gloss black side panels. However, they were still lacking.

This is the finished job. I replaced the black buttons with silver ones and added the silver Marantz star emblem to the integrated so that it matched the SACD/CD player. The story and work involved in this cosmetic surgery is just way too long and convoluted for me to go into, but it turned out exactly like I wanted and well worth the effort.

    Very nice looking indeed.
Great idea on the chrome tape. I'd like to try something like that for my Parasound 2100.

Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes

It's a Sony that usually takes great pics. The problem is the can lighting and I couldn't use the flash as it would wash out the fronts.

Jesse when I first saw this thread listed I was wondering why the hell you were having reconstructive surgery.

    Nice work as usual.

What speakers are you running with that set up?

Do you use the treble and bass controls or keep them flat? I am not sure I saw a bypass for them.

You added a touch of class. Marantz should consider making the change for their next line-up.

I have the Marantz PM5004 and CD5004 in my basement rig and I am impressed even being their entry level. The amp could use a little more drive but is very sweet sounding. I am sure yours has that drive.
