I've been streaming the album via iTunes Radio for a few days now and I'm liking it A LOT.

With every album they seem to refine their sound and always produce something different than before. It's rare to find an album that I can just jam to with a drink in my hand while my wife is dancing around the house to it while she gets stuff done (she is FAR more productive than I am).

Overall I really like the new album.

It's streaming for free on iTunes Radio, give it a listen!

I like it.....definitely not the same as their earlier stuff. Reminds me of waiting in the sun all day long at a festival for the Flaming Lips to headline a show, but maybe that's just me.

We've been to a few of their older shows at The Akron Civic, EJ Thomas hall and Th Agora in Cleveland. My favorite show was when The Black Angels opened for them at the Agora.

Thanks for the heads up. Streaming it now.

It is for sale, with a pretty good sized stack, at the Pocatello Walmart. Maybe they didn't get the message.

Stores get the stock, but are supposed to wait for the release date. That is how Amazon was able to ship mine yesterday, with it theoretically arriving on Tuesday, the release day. I wonder vendors have any legal obligation to not sell before the release date. I can see where a store could gain an advantage over others by selling before the other stores sell it.

The Black Keys were on NPR this morning talking about the release. I thought it was interesting. I like some of their music.

    Over-produced.

This may not make much sense, but if I'd never heard The Black Keys, I'd probably like this as a pretty good new band. But as a fan, it just doesn't have the sound I expect to hear. Too synthesized.

    That's Danger Mouse for you.

It's certainly different than their other stuff, but I do like it.

After a few weeks of listening, I really like this now. Not that I didn't like it before, just wasn't The Black Keys sound that I expected.

I began thinking about other bands whose sound changed fairly significantly from their early albums to later ones. (I'll probably show my age with the examples:)

    U2
    REM
    INXS
    The Wallflowers
    The Beatles

For some of these, I prefer their older stuff, for others I think the newer stuff is better.
