4 Years ago, after his parents said goodbye "in heavy tears" I walked my Nephew to the tunnel at the Indianapolis Airport.
He was headed to Afganistan, I told him to stay strong, keep his head down and never hesitate, as tears poured down my face, I'll never forget the look in his eyes, like a deer in the headlights.

He has now been home a few weeks and we had dinner together this evening just him and me. such a BLESSING he made it home.

He's HOME!!!

Funny you should mention that, we sent tons of care packages along with cd's I burned, Justin was a fan of country music which I always teased him about. Tonight, he told me, he would like to hear some AC/DC at our house this weekend. I told him ANYTHING he wants to hear. Its on me....I assume it will get tad bit "rowdy" sometime this weekend.. :)

Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

im happy for you guys from the bottom of my heart, so many people i know have been there, lost friends and family there, and i've heard the stories from those who have been. Im gearing to leave here to a deployable unit, and know im gonna have people feeling how you felt his whole tour. your nephew has done something i cant come close to imagining as of now, and i have the utmost respect for him, and for y'all as his family sitting home everyday awaiting his safe return. Thank you for taking him out and being there for him now that he is back, i dont know about him, but for me, the hardest part so far, being away from home, is knowing my kid brother cries himself to sleep often, wishing his big bro will walk through the door. It isnt being worried for yourself, but being worried about those you've left behind.

Things you can do for our men and women of the military...

I don't go to bars much, but when I do if they are in uniform I send them a round, and it makes me feel a little better.

I travel to Atlanta quite a bit, and will share/pay for their carfare...

Donate your frequent flyer miles to someone who needs them to get home... all of their airfare is not paid for by uncle sam until they become a congressman.

Let them know they are special and we appreciate their hard work and sacrifice and will never leave them behind!

Trying to get him into some older classic rock, he's still a country boy at heart. It appears he likes the softer sounds with lyrical substance.

    Well done!!

When he was deployed, I always would ask, what can I send you. I always got "get me home", send more field and stream magazines ect ect.
This strangest request he ask for which shocked me, it was for "socks & underwear". I thought, are you kidding me, here's this kid in such an awful place and all he wants at this time was socks and underwear. Beleive me you, we sent 4 big boxes of them, all shapes and sizes. We never got so many thank you letters for him and his buddies. Oops, sorry all. That was NOT meant as a political rant. Anyway, he's home now and God Bless all of them!!
