Hi, I use Polk for my surround system. I want to go from 5.1 to 7.1 in my system. I currently have the Polk RTFX for the rear surround.
A friend is selling his Polk RT1 speakers. Will they make a good match? What are the RT1 pair of speakers worth.
Polk RT800 Main
Polk CS400 Center
Polk RT f/x Rear
Polk RT f/x Back Rear
Advent 12" powered sub
Sony STR-DA1000ES (7.1 amp)
Panasonic DV 563A (SACD, DVD ect)
DishNet Satellite(with hard drive rec.)

I'm not familar with an RT1, there was an R1 in production a few years back however.

Little shelf speaker, 5.25" woof, 2" cone tweet. I've seen them bring $50-$100 / pair on ebay recently, depending on condition.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Yes the speakers in question would be the R1. Would they be a good match.

If the drivers match the fronts, which i believe are tri-lam tweeters, I would say yes.

The grill isn't removable on the R1 speakers so I can't see how they match. I did run a pink noise sound test with the R1 against the RTFX. The R1 speakers didn't seem to have the top high frequencies that the RTFX did. I guess I'm asking for help because I can get the R1 speakers for $60.00 pr. I just didn't want to mess up the sound stage that I have.

then I would guess they are not the same, probably composites. The tri-lams have pretty good detail in the high end. You could use them, but they wouldn't be a perfect match.

Ya know I really do appeciate your time talking to me about this. I guess that I should give up the idea about an inexpensive match and fork out the money for a better match. Thank you
