Marrantz DVD 7001 or back to a Denon 1650AR?

I had a Denon 1650AR from 2001 to 2009 and it was very good. I went through some other high end players from 2009 to 2012 but due to $$ issues settled on a Marantz DVD 7001 because as a combo player it was very good at music. There is now a Denon 1650AR near to me for a reasonable price. Am I going backwards or forward by going back to it? It was a heck of a player but is it better then the 7001 DVD/SACD player??

Hard to say for sure Keith. The Marantz is compared to the Denon3930 which is no slouch. A lot of folks like that Denon 1650 for sure. If i remember correctly didn't the 1640 have 4 Burr-Brown ladder dacs in it? Some say the 1640ar more tinny that previous model so just get your ears on them and listen for yourself if you can.
