those with denon dvm 2815 dvd player and others

I have the dvd player hooked up to my AVR with the optical so im using the AVR decoder not the dvd built in decoder.does the bass enhancer make a differrence when its on?Audio channel is set at multi channel.Do i have to set up the speakers,delay time and channel level and how does channel level work?thxs i really need as much feedback as possible thxs.
