Hey guys I have a quick question. I am a theatrical stagehand and I found some old theater amps in the basement of my theater. They are a Crown Microtech 1200 and a QSC CXS. They are both 2 channel amps. I want to hook them up to my Yamaha RX-v775 receiver. I was wondering if you guys would look at the specs on the amp and tell me if this would be a good idea to use these amps for my monitor 70's. Also, the best way to hook them up? Thanks in advance.

You are going to need XLR cables or a TRS adapter for the connection, but I bet the fans on those would be louder than you want in your room. You won't know until you hook them up, but the amps also might have a hiss through the speakers as they weren't designed to have listeners a few feet from the drivers in a quiet environment.

    Good luck!

That crown amp is a very good piece of sound stage reinforcement equipment...if you google the model number, you can look up the user manual with regards to output wattage..connection wiring...jacks needed...AWG speaker wire recommendations and the like..even setup for cooling...I hope you have a good sized room...these amps are gutsy...but should work for you...

Well worth a try - some folks really like such amplifiers in home settings.
