Marantz SR-7400 AVR Questions/Advice

I picked a Marantz SR-7400 up in out of the box condition from a craigslist posting for $50 from an old audiophile along with a pair of Monitor 5 in great condition for $45. I had a Pioneer VSX-403 powering my RTA15TLs and a pair of Advent Prodigy towers. I now have the SR-7400 powering the RTA15s and Monitors. My question: is this a good receiver? Are there any known problems I should look out for?

I owned a Marantz 8400 around 2004 (?) and I am pretty sure I avoided the 7400 at that time because of heat issues. Dealers seemed to know about the issue and there may have been a fix for it. I don't remember exactly but the problem/ fix may have been transformer/ rectifier related. I did a quick search and found some similar heat related discussions that reminded me of when I bought my 8400.

This problem may have gotten fixed in a later production run on that model. Others may know the exact details of this since my memory is a little foggy.

Does your marantz have DVI switching? My 8400 did.... I still have the $200 DVI cable that ran to my projector 8^/. $50 seems like a very good price.

It doesn't have DVI switching-but I don't need it to :D. It does seem to get very hot fairly quickly. Earlier in the day I bought a laptop cooling pad with two fans in it, so i just set that on top of it and it seems to keep it much cooler (And even keep my room a few degrees warmer when its cold!). I've yet to have any issues with it. Although the bass management is not the best; it is adequate. I believe I have the older-unfixed version. I'd say the top got to be about 120 degrees. But regardless-it does exactly what I need it too! Even has pre-amp out for everything (something I really wanted but wasn't expecting to find). Thanks for the info/link C:
