Although every prine song is worth a listen, if you will go to sam stone down the page, its the song that touches me.

As opposed to the good war , my dad and uncle came home to silence after korea or spit after vietnam, but at least after his death my uncle johnnys sons child,Johnnys first grandchild, who had severe spina bifida due to her grandpas exposure to agent orange in Nam, got a small settlement, which enabled a decent life.

A LIFE which my uncle forfeited to drinking induced liver failure alonfg with agent orange effects,as well as having none of the support systems that are available now t, no matter how inadequate, to our vets.

I discovered john prine through another viet nam vet, as my uncle just would not talk about his three purple stars, and his best friend who was blown to pieces as johnny rode the 50 cal. on top of the apc he was riding in.\

i was just a kid who had seen the audi murphy movies where even the dying never even bled.

BTW, hello in there which is down the page, is perfect, especially if you read what led him to write the song.

I also saw he and marty stouffer together, might be worth a few minute.

Thanks for the link. I listened to the songs and enjoyed them. I hadn't heard of him before. I'm not much of a country fan but the lyrics were more folk than country.
