The spout on my 20 year old gas can was shot. So I go to buy a new gas can.
What happened? Suddenly they have all these goofy things going on to
make sure you can't just pour out gas. Was this really a problem that
needed to be fixed????

    Lol.

    It took me 5 full minutes to figure out how to use my new gas container for my 2 cycle gas today. It would have been 15 seconds if I bothered to read the instructions...

    The one I got does work pretty well at preventing gas from spilling and it eliminates the need for a funnel to fill my chainsaw and trimmer. So that's pretty cool.

    Those are the best I've found so far. The good ol' guvmnt is only tryin' to protect us from ourselves !!!!!!

    I like the one I bought last year; it just has a button one pushes to start dispensing -- and it 'burps' itself (i.e., I don't have to remember to open - nor to close - a vent hole).

    I guess we can't just use a potato to seal the spout any more, though ;-)

    I burned my finger taking something out of the oven with a towel... the towel did not have a label saying "not for taking stuff out of the oven" can I sue someone?

    I saw an article on TV that Stossel did.
    It was about the Blitz gas can factory.
    They have been run out of business by lawsuits.
    It seems that stupid drunken morons were pouring gas directly onto a blazing fire and burning themselves.
    So it was obviously the Blitz factories fault.
    Bye bye last American gas can factory. Hello un-sueable Chinese factory.

    i like my stainless olive drab tanks, with locking lid, locking spout(purchased separately), they can take a beating, they look cool, and no spill or evap during storage, period

    Part of it I'm sure is that they want to make sure we don't leave it uncorked and hitting open air.
    Locking base on the spout, locking pour spout. I guess I should of had a spare old style spout.

    Glad to hear I'm not the only one. Bought one of the "fancy" new cans when I moved into my house last year, and ended up taking the spout completely off to gas up my mower. The confusion is strong in this one.
