If anyone is in line for one of these, I just thought I would let you know, they started going out today. I got my track # and a arrival date of 2/12.

    Dr. Spec.

I will post my impressions about the sub but it may be awhile. Mrs. 6pak is having serious hand & finger surgery the day the sub is to arrive. I had to postpone the delivery one day. She is going to be in a lot of pain and pretty cranky since she will not be able to use either hand for much. I don't think she is going to want to hear a calibration & set up test for several days. Same with a bunch of window rattlin movie scenes. O'well, I have waited for this sub for several months so a few more weeks to let it really rip will not be so bad.

I was really wanting to set this beast up in a corner while she was at work and see how long it took her to notice it. Damn. Timing on this deal is really bad. Plus, I had some wheels & tires for my truck on back order. Of course they are also coming in the day of the surgery. Boy, is she gonna owe me big for **** all this up. :)
I just hope UPS doesn't loose my sub like they lost Sids stuff.

I had the Ultra delivered Friday afternoon. When we set it in the house it leaned to one side like that famous tower in Italy. The bottom of the box had been crushed a bit! When I got the time and courage to unbox the sub I found the bottom of the sub to be in good shape. The metal ring around the grill on top did have a dent in it. After inspecting the shipping box, the top did have a small hole poked through the cardboard.

I emailed SVS-Ron a picture of the dent around midnight Friday. Saturday around 8 am Ron sent me a message telling me they would send out a new grill Monday morning. That is some real first class customer service.

I still have not been able to try out the sub yet. I should have it hooked up and playing in a few days.

Monkey,The PB2-ISD would have been a perfect sub for our set-up...but the sheer size and weight of that bad boy was just too much for my liking...that's why I opted for the PC-Ultra...

I really like the "look" of the cylinder plus the smaller foot print,I don't know if the Ultra will out perform the PB2,but I'm sure it will more than fulfill our needs...Yes,it cost a little more, but, who does'nt spend a "little" more than they originally planned?

Mike, Dr. Spec also suggested the 25-31PC+...but I'm going to Email SVS about the performance of the PB2-ISD versus the PC-ULTRA. The PB2-ISDs weight is giving me a severe case of the heebie geebies...

well actually the sub packed and on the pallet (per bax global) is 153 lbs. and the sub weighs 115 lbs on the floor.. I just received my pb2-isd last week i guess, and its fantastic... its not as big as you think after its in the corner for a bit and you get used to it.

Don't get me wrong, i can't even get one end off the floor, and its large, but easily able to get used to,. specially after you watch a few bass impacted movies !!!

How did you get that monster in the house...let me know ASAP if you can. Ron S of SVS is waiting for a decision. I'm thinking if I slip the guys $20, they would take it down a flight of cellar door steps to the rear of my basement...

That might be a stretch, but you could try.. I have a side access on the side of the house from the back alley to my front door, (down here we have a main road in front and a dirt road behind all the houses where our back door and driveway is) the driver just dolleyed it through the side yard access and to my front door, I then just needed help pushing it up the steps into my florida room , I then only had to scooch it about 15' to my living room corner and unwrap from there and slide off the pallet.. depending on how steep your stairs are and how deep the basement is, its going to be hard to man handle it down there unless you and the driver are large guys and can carry 150+ lbs awkwardly long and wide down a set of stairs... your call, but its heavy

The PB2-Ultra is scheduled to land tomorrow. 205 pounds crated.

I'll tip the guy $20 to bring it around the back yard entrance and into the HT room. No way I'm moving that monster into the house with my bad back.

I already built a carpet "sleigh" for it, so we can slide it around easily on the laminate floor. It's smaller than the baseplate so no one will see it peeking out.

    Here's the response from SVS:
    From Ron:
"They may be able to do that, but I'm not sure there's any guarantee they'll be able to navigate stairs. Usually movement off the truck to the garage of a customer is done with a "pallet jack" which doesn't do stairs.

Most likely if you can help carry one end, doing a few stairs with the guy delivering (which will probably be solo) won't be hard."
    ___________________________________________________
    From Erik:
"Bax will help you bring it in the front door but they are not obligated to help with it up and down stairs inside the house. Most times the drivers are cool and will help you bring it inside but they're not obligated to. When they aren't willing to help like that, I'd say 90% of the time a tip will sway the scales; but it isn't part of the shipping commitment so it is not 100% guaranteed that they will help you bring it down there."
    ___________________________________________________

153 lbs is not that heavy with two people. I think I might raise the tip above $20. .. I have a bad back too, but I should be able to handle it.

Good idea, luckily my house is kinda small and it wasnt 20' from the alley to my door and he just dropped it off at the door, we then slid it up 3 small steps.. from there i took over...

I could imagine 205 lbs of subbage , HEAVY!!!!

My back is a piece of crap, But no where near surgery bound or like yours, thank goodness

Good luck ED with that new Ultra 2 :D

Monkey,What ever you decide upon,I'm sure you will be MORE than happy with, another factor that played in my decision was if for some reason I wanted to return the sub, the return shipping cost would be much lower on a PC-Series...I know the PB2-ISD has got to be a KILLER sub, even though we have a large room for our HT setup, the area where our gear is located is in a tight spot...I have just enough room to slip a PC in that spot...

Dr.Spec,I have a friend who is a carpet layer that has some "thin" teflon sheets that he moves furniture on,these sheets are about 4'x4' with a couple of holes in one end...you can load a piece on the sheet and with the aid of hooks,a T handle thing that you hook into the holes in the sheet...you can drag a hell-of-a-lot-of weight with this simple set-up without killing your back...

BTW,our Ultra should be delivered tomorrow also,I'm STOKED

Well you guys that are waiting for the PC-Ultra, should be pleased when it finaly arrives. I had mine for over two weeks before I got to half-**** calibrate and then give it a good test. I think it is going to work out o.k. It seemed to be what I was expecting. Better than my old sub, but that is not a fair fight for the 10 inch NHT. I have about 1 1/2 hrs on it, and have not broken any windows or pictures so far.

BTW It is really not that big, especially if you compare it to a 55 gallon barrel.
