Crown XLS1500 Amp

I bought this as a test, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality you can get for the money! However, I've decided to stick with an integrated amp for simplicity, even though I do leave the amp on 24/7. I've been using this amp set at full range as my preamp splits the frequencies between the speakers and the subwoofer, but the XLS1500 does have programmable crossovers to use the amp for your main speakers, or a 1.5kW subwoofer amplifier!

If you want big, budget power without any fan noise, this Crown XLS1500 DriveCore amp will put 525wpc in a 4ohm load and can even drive a 4ohm load bridged at 1500w. This Harman DriveCore class D technology is the same used in new Lexicon amps, and it sounds great with my Jamo theater speakers! I've tested ICEpower, Hypex, Class D Audio, Tripath, and now DriveCore, and Harman has created a great sounding, high powered class D technology with consumer and pro level connections on the same unit.

The amp has about 200 hours on it after burn-in and listening tests, and will be shipped in original box with all original packing and manual, and I'm asking $300 plus actual shipping; shipping weight is 14lbs.

Just a reminder that I have yet to see (let alone hear) this amp's fan turn on when driving my 4 ohm speakers. Whether driving speakers or a subwoofer, you don't have to hide this amp in another room or cabinet and worry about fan noise.

Big power at a good price without fan noise!

I own 3 of these. They are really, really good. Make my Lsi's sing! I've owned mine for about 2 years now. Played them .....L O U D, and the fan has never come on on any of them. They generate no heat, and weight about 8>9 lbs. Amazing!

Kinda tempting, especially since you are local :) Any trades that might help in the audio gear field or tubes or cd's/lp's by chance?

I always like a good integrated amp or stereo receiver; what are you thinking?

I love that a few people are actually willing to step outside the traditional purpose built HT amp bubble..and experience the great results!

What I especially find really cool about these Crowns is the flexibility you have with having the individual channel volume control. Not only do I have independent volume control of each speaker in my 5.2 system, but I also have volume control between my highs, and lows within the same speaker as my mains (F/L Lsi's) are bi-amped. I use a "Y" cable from my processor's front left, and right pre-outs to both channels on two of these Crowns (one for each main). On bright recordings I can take the "treble edge" off by turning down the volume to any degree of just the tweeter. On movies, I can jack the volume of just the lows if I want. Overall, my system took a big jump up in transparency as well when I installed these amps.
