I was not even thinking about purchases in audio, but thanks to fate, timing, and a great big bear of a friend, Steve, you know him as Dawgfish, something fell in my lap today.
I have had great success selling my guns, some jewelry, and some antiques to stash some money to get me through till i can do a cash out refi in 6 months.
Well, these became available at a once in a lifetime price, and they are as close to out of the box mint as you could hope for.
Dont get me wrong, Im still eating beanee weenee, and bologna sandwiches, but im listening to these.
Steve has some dynamat, hurricane nuts, and armaflex he is going to help me with, along with jumping the polyswitches, and a few spikes for the bottoms.
Im blown away by the sound, and my blessing, and while its bittersweet, because she is not here to experience it with me, its like salve.

Enjoy the music Scott. As Mike said, we'll see our loved ones again. God bless, take care and enjoy the 1C's.
Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

despite the fact that i'm very lucky to have to my wife and children in good health, I still find music to be a "salve" for my minor problems.
I can only imagine the peace it can bring you with all that you and your family have been through.
Enjoy the tunes my friend! You of all people know how important it is to enjoy all that life has to offer. -
Wow that is fantastic!!! Good on you Dawg and congrats Scottyboy.

Believe me everyone the pleasure was all mine! Scott is a great friend and its always awesome hanging out with him! Those 1Cs are an absolutely perfect fit for Scotty's listening room and gear. They also look like they just came out of the box. They were definitely a great find.
It's funny because Scott and I were betting how long it would be before someone mentioned doing the RDO-194 swap. Turns out I am the first one lol! Normally that would be the first mod I would recommend for vintage SDAs, but with Scott's equipment and listening environment the swap is not needed. There's not a trace of harshness in the treble with his setup. Top to bottom everything is perfectly balanced. That was really surprising to Scott and I with the hardwood floors, but all I can say is the rest of his room must be acoustically neutral to dead because it sounds absolutely perfect! Talk about some awesome synergy! Scott may still decide to do the RDO-194 swap in the future, but there is no glaring need to do so like is normally the case.
I think he is going to be enjoying those for years to come and while it is true that Deb is not hear to enjoy them also, I know she is very happy for Scott and would want this for him. She may have been the one to arrange all of this for all we know! -
Ain't friends great !!!
