Wow, did I ever have fun with my 4.1TL's tonight!

My 20-year old nephew is just starting to get into audio, and has wanted to get ears on my setup for a while. He came by tonight, and I let the SDA's loose. It's been a long time since I pumped them to ear splitting levels, but my nephew just couldn't have it loud enough. We had them to room-shaking levels, and the Krell just made it seem effortless. We started off playing records, some Supertramp, then a bunch of live Grateful Dead, and the entire second side of Abbey Road. Later on we went to the digital side, we hit the Doors, Eagles, Jethro Tull, Clapton, Stones, Rush, Yes, U2, Chili Peppers, and more. I normally don't listen anywhere near as load, I forgot how well the SDA's can crank. My nephew's jaw was dropping at the punch and depth of the bass that the little 4.1's can produce. Then I told him to go look at the back of the speakers. "Ohhhh!!!!" I had him closing his eyes, and visualizing the soundstage. He was commenting about how he could place each individual instrument. I explained to him how SDA works and what it does for imaging. He's an engineering student, so he was fascinated. When we were listening to Abbey Road, he was amazed at how you could locate the individual voices in the harmonies in different locations in the soundstage, as if the Beatles were standing side by side right in front of us. What a great time, but I pushed my ears to the limit, they are ringing right now! Awesome time, and great seeing my nephew getting the audio bug!
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

My son was floored by them as well, he didn't think they would sound that good compared to my 1.2tl's, his jaw hit the floor when I cranked them up..

I gave them to him, but he doesn't have a place for them just yet..

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Ears are still ringing a bit this morning. I'm an SDA owner for 25 years, and they never cease to amaze me.
