Distortion from 245i??

I am a little worried because my 245i center channel seems to distort when an actor/actress raises her voice beyond a certain dB. This particually happened in Rush Hour 2. I was watching the DTS-ES version and everytime Chris Tucker shouted or raised his voice, the center seemed to distort. The high dB seemed to become scratchy. I am playing my DVDs through a PS2 and I am hoping that this is one of the problems. Anyone else hear (or know anything) about this problem. BTW, it seems to do this whenever any character raises his voice beyond a certain dB. Thanks for any information you can give me.

Try it out with different sources. Sounds like it may be a blown tweeter. Hope not. Later:eek:

Go into your setup menu on your ps2 and double check your settings, its been awhile since Ive messed with mine but if your settings are not right it can cause problems like that. dolby digital should be on if your running it through your optical and set to digital (not d-pcm) this can cause the noise you are hearing.
    Hope this helps.

Yep, I think sonytheater's on the right track. I believe that there's a setting on the PS2 that lets you boost the audio output, for some applications. I imagine that if it's set wrong you could run into problems.

Thanks for the help. I am hopefully getting a new Sony DVP-NS700P this weekend so hopefully all will be good. Any other problems known with the Cs245i?
