Looking for a pair of ebony LSI-F/X to finish off a LSI set-up. I know they don't come up that often, but hoping someone has a pair that they would be willing to part with. Thanks in advance.

No idea on value of rta 11t's.....

They are hard to find for sure... you might just want to find a par of 7s and see if they work for you, or use them until you can parlay them into the fx's that you want... I have a pair, and they are fine... I wonder if I would notice a big diff... maybeI'll try it...My New Year's resolution is 3840 × 2160

theres a pair of the 11t's up for 300, look to be pretty nice, but thats a good sized stack of cash for speakers i havent heard, are used, and frankly, as old or older than me. i'd have to know their worth before considering them.2 Channel(work in progress):DAC: Schiit modi 2 uberAmp:Parasound 1200 MK IISub:RBH 1010-SEP Speakers: Monitor 5A peerlesscurrently running some krk rokit 3g since the HK pre outs died and i need to start breaking everything down to move in a couple monthsHeadphones:Source: tidalDAC: schiit modius epre: schiit sysAmp: AQ dragonfly black/ schiit magni2 Cans: Velodyne V-True, Grado SR225i, sennheiser x drop gaming headsetPC:DAC: schiit modius e(over spdif)pre: schiit sysspeakers: prenous eris 5 xtSub: Earthquake Sound MiniMe-P63most of my comments are passing on of info, im a noob, im just trying to help how i can, if im wrong or out of place to comment, dont hesitate to let me know "WITH WILLING HEARTS AND SKILLFUL HANDS, THE DIFFICULT WE DO AT ONCE, THE IMPOSSIBLE TAKES A BIT LONGER, WITH COMPASSION FOR OTHERS. Rob, may want to start your own thread on this. Here is what I can tell you. I have the RTA 11TL's.... I bought them for 150. Another guy in Indy had a set of RTA 11TL's in black he recently sold and IIRC they sold for somewhere in the 200 dollar range. Both are sets are stock. The TL's are preferred over the T versions in the RTA line IIRC. As such they should cost a bit more than the stock T versions.
If it was me I would pass unless you can get him down sub 200 and then ONLY if they are in *Mint* condition.
As far as sound. I love em. They sound VERY good and I haven't even moved to the RDO tweeter. You can also use Larrys Rings for the 6.5 & tweeters on these and there is a way to use/modify the rings to work for the 8" passives since he doesnt have a ring for that size.
Modding them is fairly easy and inexpensive (around 150 for both IIRC) and they are overall VERY good speakers. If you do mod them, its possible to make them TL models with very little cost, however if you do that you change which RDO tweeter you need (194 to 198) to keep that in mind.
But for 300 IMHO your paying too much unless you just "have" to have them.Mikey081057 wrote: »They are hard to find for sure... you might just want to find a par of 7s and see if they work for you, or use them until you can parlay them into the fx's that you want... My .02 on this.
I had 7's and I have LSi F/X's. What you need depends on a LOT of factors. For me I am stuck with 5.1 speaker config. As such the F/X's give you a more diffuse sound. Works good for older DVD's, and gives you that 7.1 feel w/o rear surrounds.
I used the 7's in the same position as my F/X's (in my old setup NOT at my house). Didnt like em as much at all. Wife even commented the "big" speakers sounded better. The 7's are easier to drive and more pinpoint. Thats great for folks with 7.1 config's since the surround rears (which would also be 7's in this situation) fill in the void.
The F/X's can be dipole or bipole so again you have some additional flexibility.
But the MOST important thing, which you know, the F/X's are HARD TO FIND. Which means they normally command a VERY high price compared to the 7's.
So if it was me I would try the 7's to see while waiting for a nice set of F/X's to come along. Then try em both and sell the loser.
I ended up selling my 7's to a forum member off the record. I consulted both Mantis and Pearsall01 as they both owned em and I valued their input. Here are some thoughts from them both on which to sell and which to keep....
Dan (Mantis)I'm a bit torn. The LSi/FX's are a perfect match to use when watching all kinds of movies. But they are not ideal for multi channel music. The Lsi7's are excellent musical speakers and do perform with Lossless formats but don't give you that extra area when needed with older movies not in Lossless.
I think for myself I would absolutely go Lsi7's because they are more versatile. You lose more owning the FX's. Sell them and you'll be fine.
Phil (Pearsall001)
**Backstory** Phil told me to buy a different house first since my issues were with placement due to the room I was getting .... I agreed I should, but somehow my wife didnt really go along with that .....Well, now that a different house is out of the question you have a tough call to make. But your experience w/ the 7's is spot on...straight firing with not much coverage for surround duty. Now the FX on the other hand are designed just for that application. And don't forget the dipole/bipole setting you can play around with to suit your room & listening preference. Also the FX pair is giving you double the drivers than the 7's. If it's not all about the money I'd stick w/ the FX's. And your assumption is correct, if you sell the FX's you know damn well you'll be second guessing that decision & will start looking for another pair, which by the way are getting harder & harder to come by."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." No worries. As with all things audio YMMV, but obviously finding a pair of 7's on ebay or the forum is relatively easy and inexpensive... The LSi F/X's can go for almost double if not more than the 7's...."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
