Voltz: listened to the Tracker album and now waiting for the free CD that was supposed to be a bonus with the concert ticket I purchased for this fall. Haven't heard anything, may have to get the vinyl tomorrow. Sounded great, just like Privateering. Knopfler is one of my current favorites.

Now that ad is bugging me, I'm going to have to dig out an old National Lampoon and see what it was.....

I think is was for Maxell cassette tapes. I always wanted a pair of the JBL L100 speakers at the time, but way out of my price range then.

Sure was. Maxell tapes. Or, if you consider "Stay Tuned" (the movie) and their take on it, it was "Max Hell". Haha!

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

How lucky you are to be going to the show this fall! Giving Tracker another listen this morning before I head to work. I to am currently the biggest Knopfler fan.

Maxell did the tv spots back then....I first saw that in a JBL dealership in Phoenix...I dug that print so much, they laid a copy on me..has the JBL logo in the corner..they told me it was a promo for their studio monitor line...a lot of other audio lines have used that ad though through the years...Maxell was lousy recording tape too..in my own opinion...

gudnoyez: I forgot to mention yesterday the new Knopfler CD has a Deluxe Edition with four additional songs, fifteen total songs. Looks like you can pick it up on Amazon for less than $12 maybe.

Andy Fraser, bass player for the British band Free who co-wrote the classic 1970s rock anthem "All Right Now" when he was a teenager, has died. Fraser was 62. (yesterday the 17th)
RIP... playing through a dbl Lp of Free!

    Joy Divison : Closer

Brilliant album, love just sitting and taking in all the sounds and beats. Start of a whole new sound for the 80's.
