Ok I'm home from the steroid injections into L4 and L5. My right leg is all over the place LOL. So I'm in my recliner and listening to The Beatles Love on DVD-A. Whating for the numbness to subside. I've lived with chronic back pain for 15 years and finally decided to do something about it. I go for another round in 2 weeks. The next day or two will give me an idea of how much relief I might expect.

A surprisingly good album (widely considered to be their best, I guess).

A few months back, I listened to all of the Monkees albums Mrs. H & I have (all of 'em, up to but not including Head)... mostly to see how they sounded. They actually all sounded pretty good; the one I enjoyed the most, start to finish (FWIW), was actually Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones.

When I was a kid, my older girl cousin was a Monkees fanatic and she got me into them, some of their stuff still holds up very well. Stepping Stone is a favorite to this day. I agree Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones is good start to finish. I remember when that came out some reviewer commented that the title sounded like a law firm. Imagine that, the Monkees, a legal corporation. Lol. That's why they made Head. I saw a documentary that indicated their manager/suit was trying to force the Monkees to record "Sugar, Sugar." Mike Nesmith flat out refused. The manager walked out and created the animated group The Archies, claiming he now had a group that wouldn't talk back to him. (And didn't have to pay even the pittance I'm sure they threw to the Monkees considering the millions upon millions that were made on the albums and TV show). I also recently read in a Neil Young biography that when they were casting for the Monkees TV show, Stephen Stills really wanted the part and was extremely pissed when he got beat out by a guy who was hanging around the L.A. scene later named Peter Tork.

I know they were a made up group "but" I always thought that they were much better than other popular groups of the era and I on occasion I've been made fun of. But no matter, I enjoy their albums anyway. I like Headquarters because it has my favorite track "For Pete's Sake" on it.

A lot of their stuff was really well written and produced...some was pure filler to attract pre pubescent girls though...Nesmith and Tork were the only true musicians in that band...

Get the Led out. Sounds great!
On vinyl. I can't fairly compare. Is the vinyl better sounding than anything else available?

The remasters on vinyl sound pretty good, there's so many pressings of this album so its hard to say.
These also came from the 70's so its difficult to find a good copy
