    Deep Feeling ~ Pretty Colours
    An interesting though barely recorded mid-'60s British band, Deep Feeling fed members into major psychedelic bands, star and cult, of the late '60s, including Traffic, Spooky Tooth, Family, and the Blossom Toes. The group evolved from an outfit called the Hellions, which featured future Traffic members Jim Capaldi and Dave Mason. After Mason left Deep Feeling, future Spooky Tooth guitarist Luther Grosvenor joined. This lineup, also including vibraphonist and flute player Poli Palmer (later in Family and the Blossom Toes), guitarist Gordon Jackson, and bassist Dave Meredith, did some unreleased recordings with influential U.K. manager/producer/impresario Giorgio Gomelsky (most famous as the manager/producer of the Yardbirds). One 1966 track, "Pretty Colours," does show up on the Luther Grosvenor CD Floodgates Anthology and is a pretty nifty early psychedelic venture, with flute, vibes, distorted vocals, and the kind of pop-friendly yet Asiatic-Middle Eastern melody that the Yardbirds often explored.

    Dreams ~ Imagine My Surprise

    Dreams was one of the original prominent jazz rock bands in the period of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and recorded for Columbia Records. Dreams was formed by Jeff Kent and Doug Lubahn, who together wrote and arranged all their original songs. The band began as a trio and evolved into a horn-based band over time.

    Chum, I'm the same age. Must've been 12 as well, was hanging around my buddy's house that summer when his parents were gone and his older brother who had just gone to college in Houston came home with this album by a new English group. He put on it on the record player and when Babe I'm Gonna Leave You hit the groove everybody's mouths just dropped. We played that song over and over and over.

    Yea...I was fifteen...the local radio station was playing Good Times Bad Times,How Many More Times for a few weeks before the release of that LP....we had never heard such songs..when the album finally came out..I got a copy and had everyone over to demo it on dad's Mac equipment....you talk about being blown away...man that was some heavy stuff when it first came out...

    Chumlie...I inherited that old gear some years ago...had it refurbed about 10 years ago...you would not believe the sound that gear produces...that gear is from the mid 60's and it still sings like when it was new....has that old vintage look too!
