BlueMDPickerim: Graham Nash was good. Not on the level of Neil Young solo acoustic but still has an amazing voice at 75. Had a guy with him playing electric guitar. Totally excellent rendition of Beatles’ Day In The Life

I hope to just be breathing, forget about singing, at 75. ;)
    Glad you enjoyed it!

One of my very favorite Trower releases, and the first I believe to feature Robin as the sole lead vocalists, "What Lies Beneath" displays his mastery of the six string guitar in every idiom of the blues/rock genre. Not yet a fan? Start here and work both directions.

The richness and intricacy of "Junior's" tone on the 12-string defies description. This selection, recorded near the end of his life, is imbued with every nuance of his 50+ years of performing live on the road.

    5tmojxjazik5.jpg

According to the liner notes on this hard to find 1977 Trix album, Junior's wife bought him his first 12-string electric guitar as a gift (that's her on the cover with him). The rest is blues history. I was fortunate enough to find and buy a copy during a trip to the Chicago Blues Festival in 1985.

“On his brilliant new release, Just Like Medicine, A.J. draws upon the smoldering, slow-dance brass of the heralded Muscle Shoals Horns, the unmistakable vocals of the McCrary Sisters, Nashville’s own Vince Gill, and legendary guitarists Colin Linden and Steve Cropper to deliver perhaps his most soulful album to date.”

The late Chuck Smallwood (madmax on the forum) introduced me to the music of Robert Lucas during one of his visits to my home in Maryland. Unique talent gone too soon.
