I'd like to pass on a little story. I believe it was around 1970 and we were all on a vacation in South Carolina at Fort Sumter. They were raising the Stars and Stipes. Now you need to know my moms dad was a real old time redneck. Born and raised in Kentucky on a tobacco farm. As the flag is going up grandad stats belting out Okie From Muskogee. I'm standing there with shoulder length hair and smiling. I miss grandad.

This album came out in 2005. Merle's birthday is today. Saw him play on his birthday that year. This album is top notch but Merle was pretty bitter about the fact that it was not marketed much by his label. Check it out if you can. My buddy saw him last November with Willie Nelson but I couldn't make it, regrettably.
