George, is your Captain Beyond the original with the psychedelic thing on the cover? Dancing madly backwards indeed. Didn't they have Johnny Winter's drummer?

I have posted this before but thought it might be good to share it again,,,Track records,,which was a division of Polydor IIRC,,it is a single LP,, Part 1,, we carefully opened the cover so that a friend who painted as a hobby could use it to go by as he painted it on the wall in our record shop,,back in the early seventies.needless to say,, the big box stores came along and we did not last,,but it was one hell of a fun ride while it did.
Electric Ladyland Part IJC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
George, the original cover had a psychedelic piece that was glued to the cover. If it sticks out a little and is not flush with the rest of the cover its likely the original. I think later pressings just had the psychedelic portion printed right on the cover cardboard rather than a separate piece that was glued to the front.
-
By "psychedelic piece" I mean the Tarot-card like image of the guy in space that's on the cover. You could peel it off the cover of the original.
-
Now that is interesting,,I did not know that,,another thing I learned, was that one of the reasons for part 1&2 in the UK,was so people could afford the single lp as opposed to having to buy the double,,,the other was the controversial cover.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

@george daniel @dromunds
I have the album with the prism cover. I'll take a pic when I get home and post it.

George, I knew about the controversial cover back then but never heard about parts 1&2 before. You must've had a cool record shop.

We thought so,,lol,,it was called Neptune Gardens,,, as you walked in the door,,the wall to the right had the Hendrix album painted on it,,,on the left was the Tarkus Cover,,,they were about six feet high and ten feet in length,,,somewhere I have a pic,,,if I ever find it I will post. When we closed,, we sold what we had,,but kept most of the good stuff for ourselves( my brother and I). Here is a cool little EP version that was released in the UK

Yeow, that is one nice little EP, which they'd sold those around my parts when I was a kid. Speaking of Hendrix, I saw Billy Idol do "Third Stone From The Sun" at the House of Blues in Chicago many moons ago. Not only was it a fantastic version but made me realize that it was the only song on the first album I didn't really care for as a kid, but now I really like it alot. Not quite as much as "The Wind Cries Mary," though. Lol.
-
Now here is one that we kept,,still sealed,,UK Import,,, check, out the price,,now, back in the early seventies, that was a lot to spend for a vinyl lp,,wonder what it would be worth today.

That's the one, P-man. I have one at home as well, they are pricey now. And George, talk about pricey, I think you'd be shocked at what you could get for that sealed version of Satanic with the special cover. That also has the same type of piece on the cover, like the Captain Beyond, that could be peeled off and only came on the original pressings.
-
Well,, if it will get me a swimming pool,,then it is for sale, lol.digging around in vinyl is fun,,that smell,,that musty old smell,,smells like,,,,victory!JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Or smells like money.
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
