I've been looking around for something to pair with my monitor 10's that are currently my mains in my HT system in my den. Space is an issue. I live in a small house. The only space I can put the rears would be on a wall above and behind the viewing area. They would practically be at the roof. I have ben toying with 7's and 5's. I came across some 5jr's on CL today. $80 seems like a decent price to me. I'll likely have to mount them horizontally because the wall is more of a divider. It only drops about a foot between the den and dining area. Does the horizontal vs vertical orientation matter? I'm new to Ht and this is my first attempt at putting together something. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/4403514614.html

I think those will be excellent rears! As for side mounting, try it and see! I am something that is not nearly as picky about surrounds as mains and center, so my guess is you'll be fine. But if not you can resell them or even part them out and you won't lose any money, so I say go for it!

I think you'll be fine mounting them horizontally. Your rear surrounds are not handling a majority of the sound and are there for ambiance. You've already done the most important thing and found speakers which are timbre-matched to your fronts, and even I'm not sold 100% on the need for that in rear surrounds (we'll see, I'm about to mount paradigms in my system).

    Good luck!
