My son John, who is in a new progressive heavy metal band named Detriment, is playing his first club gig tonight. John is a drummer and this band plays very fast but extremely technical metal. John is a great jazz drummer as well. He's in grade 12 and graduates in a couple months. He's playing in the only nightclub I ever frequented way back in the day I did such things. Kind of cool.
There isn't a prouder dad anywhere at this moment.

Totally cool! Too bad you're on the other side of the continent, my daughter would make a great chanteuse, unfortunately she's still a bit too young for Dad to let her go! lol
You should be proud!

So, how'd it go Fongolio ?
Checked out one of the Sources-For-All-Knowledge (Youtube), and found a couple of videos by the bass player from Detriment.
Very nice ! It's usually insulting to tell someone in a band that, "Hey, you guys sound just like *fill-in-the-blank* !", but I get sort of a "Yes"/"ELP" vibe kind of thing.
Sound quality sux (it's a Youtube video after all), but you can kind of pick up the drummer doing his thing. Very, very nice, definitely not your run of the mill garage band.
I almost hate to say it, but there's been some awesome bands that have come out of Canada. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds for these guys.

Congrats to you bothhumpty dumpty was pushed -
The show went well. Some technical problems with my son's bass drum trigger but overall really good. The crowd liked them and I was proud as punch. The video above is of Clayton the bass player. He's extremely talented for just 17 years old. All these young guys are very talented and they push each other hard to be even better. A promoter was there for a local metal festival coming up later in the summer and the guys are hoping they earned a spot. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for all the well wishes. Much appreciated!!SDA-1C (full mods)
