This is the 40th anniv of the Beatles appearing on Ed Sullivan and coming to America.

Today the classic rock station in town has been playing Beatles music all day long.

Wow.. some of the music I haven't heard in ages.. it's still fresh and is amazing to listen to even now.

Get out your favorite Beatles album/CD and take a listen to it again. You'll be hooked. :D

Take a listen to Day Tripper for instance.. guitar sounds great on that song.

Tonight on Late Show with David Letterman.. i guess they'll be playing the Ed Sullivan show where the Beatles appeared.

I listened to some of the Beatles Anthology tonight. The first time I have listened to any of it with my new system...pretty awesome.

    jd,

I agree.. it's like once you've tweaked your system to the way you like it.. it's great going back and "rediscovering" classic music again. It's refreshing.. since you're very familiar with it.. but it may be music you just haven't listened to intently for years.. it's cool to listen to the Beatles again on much better audio gear than what we were using 10, 15, 20+ years ago.
    ;)

As I was listening to The Beatles 1 last night in lieu of watching the grammys, I realized (and remembered) that I actually heard these songs for the first time 40 years ago...I liked them then...and I still like them now.

    It's been a Hard Day's Night...

On a trip to London I visited the British Library. It holds a very early copy of the Magna Carta and many other noteworthy documents for the ages.

Big surprise was that it also displayed original lyric worksheets (envelops and such) for a half dozen Beatles tunes... very cool and unexpected treat.
    More later,

Very cool, I still remember hearing Twist and Shout for the first time on a little transistor radio late at night with the volume turned way down so my parents would not hear me.

Things have changed a bit in 40 some years.!!!!!!!!!!

Man that little transistor had some mean bass and oh the highs were so transparent, such a soundstage.:D

I've been a Beatlemaniac for 40 years! I never tire of their
music and it's amazing to realize how much great music
they recorded in only 7 years. If you want to relive the
early memories, I suggest you buy the 'Beatles First US
visit' dvd. It's the real Hard Days night as the film makers
follow them around on their first visit to the US. Lots of
great Ed Sullivan footage. The Beatle anthology dvd's
are fantastic and their middle era stuff like Strawberry
Fields forever and I am the walrus are stunning in 5:1!
