THX, Pro Logic II, Logic 7.1, etc.

Okay, I have some questions regarding technical/proprietary names for different sound setups.

What is THX? 5.1? 6.1? What about THX Ultra?
Is Dolby ES a 7.1? What about ProLogic II or Logic 7?
I have heard 6.1 is better than 7.1 (at the present time). Is this true?

    To help out with some of your questions you might wont to go to (www.thx.com) theirs a pretty good amount of info there about what they are. Secound DTS ES is normally 6.1 and their is two differnt ways it is recorded, 6.1 discrete & 6.1 matrixed. Pro logic 2 is a new form of dolby pro logic that will convert most 2 channel stereo sources to a somewhat 5.1 you will get 2 seperate front channels, 3 matrixed center & surrounds plus 1 subwoffer channel via pro logic 2s bass management.
