Will placing two PSW505's side by side yield similar characteristics and increased Decibels as stacking?
Will the bass adversely affect picture quality if placed under my TV?

I wouldn't put the subs under the TV. Vibrating a TV like that can't be good.
I'll do a side-by-side db test for you in a couple days.
In the mean time:

It 's probably just me but it seems like the sub on top would rattle off.

You're right! it will indeed...
take 4 or so rubber bands and put them under the second sub! it wont go anywhere
have a great day!

Is there any gain in bringing the rear vents closer together by stacking the sub on top upside down?

Hmmm, that's a new one.... don't know. -
Wow. I finally received and stacked my two 505s. What a huge differance. Even my tone challenged wife who couldn't see the reason for the addition can hear it. The bas response is much tighter. The sound is now larger at lower volumes and less boomy at higher volumes.
