Can anyone explain the repeat-all function vs. disc type and player?

Most DVD and Bluray players have a repeat-chapter and repeat-title feature. Some also have repeat-all (i.e. repeat-disc). But the repeat-all feature doesn't necessarily mean you want to play every chapter and title on the disc over and over, it also guides the disc to play all titles and chapters in sequence one time, without having to manually start the next title.

If you have one of the increasingly rare bluray or dvd players with the repeat-all function (and a disc that has multiple titles and multiple chapters within each title), sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a bluray or a dvd, I've had it not work on both.

So can anyone explain why it works sometimes but not always? Why doesn't the player hardware control of repeat-all always work?

Well, having never used it, or even have noticed it, I will put out one possible explanation. Software bug(s) with the disk and/or player. Sometimes a firmware upgrade will fix the issue, but if it is a issue seen by only a few people then it will have a low priority for getting fixed. Of course, this is just a guess.
