The Honda Mean Mower, boasting 109 hp has officially broken the Guinness World Record for Fastest Lawnmower, averaging a speed of 116.57 mph, shattering the previous record by almost 30 mph. To qualify for the record, the Honda Mean Mower needed to cut grass and had to look like a lawnmower, both of which it did successfully.

    The lawnmower on 'roid probably came from the same thought process that gave us the 500 horsepower Honda Odyssey minivan....

    Appears to be real, although I'm more impressed with what the previous record holder achieved using an actual lawn mower engine.

    There is a guy down the street from me that has some sort of racing riding lawn mower, with a motorcycle engine in it. It looks like an old Cub Cadet that's has a modified suspension and steering. I catch him every once in a while running it up the street and kicking it sideways around the block. It's loud as hell and looks like all kinds of fun to drive. I'm guessing his is for the dirt track, considering the grooves in the tires.

    My only question is whether these souped up mowers can still cut grass?

    What good is a riding lawn mower that hauls a$$, but doesn't cut grass? :-)

    And, is the exhaust system tuned to put out such good sound?

    Yeah, they do cut grass, that was one of the requirements. Snow plows however, weren't...lol.
