I saw a pair of EPI M50's and a pair of Bose 501 Series II in a thrift store today. The guy said he'd take $70 for both pairs. I am not too interested in the Bose, though they may make nice end tables.

The EPI's have me curious with the inverted dome masonite tweeter. I couldn't see what the woofer condition though.

You could probably FLIP the BOSE. But if you haven't heard the Burhoe tweeter, it's worth a listen! Though I'm not familiar with the EPI M50 which is a smaller bookie.

Vintage BOSE sound good, I have 3 pairs of BOSE 10.2 and they are the best BOSE ever!

So I picked up the EPI's. They do sound pretty good on my initial first listen. I am guessing that the XO's could use the treatment. Otherwise they are in very nice condition. I'll post pics when I get time.

I was very torn over the Bose 501's. The wood was in good shape and could look great with some cleaning and oil. The grill cloths are intact but very unevenly faded. They sound pretty good in the mids and highs. The bass was on the muddy side. I couldn't see the condition of the woofer surrounds but they did not sound like they were cracked. I thought about using them as end table speakers in my basement possibly to serve as surrounds but I already have better choices for surrounds and already have too many speakers sitting around.
