How does that Chinese saying go; May you live in exciting times. Or something to that effect.

Anyway, in regard to physics we are living in exciting times. The discovery of possible evidence showing the very instant the universe was created might result in some amazing applications after we understand it.

Who knows. We might even be able to explain why some cables work much, much better than other cables.

They can't even find a 777 on our own planet, yet they can find the center of the universe... go figure.

the saying is (ostensibly) "May you live in interesting times" - and it is said not to be a blessing, but rather a curse.

EDIT: Holy Schnizzle -- Meg Urry (who wrote the CNN story at the link) was my Physics TA in college. It is an amazingly small universe!

More people have been looking longer for this than for the airplane. It took two years to find the Air France plane that crashed in the Atlantic a few years ago.

I am sure as time goes by the theory will be refined and revised as we learn more, but, as of now, all the science is pointing to its accuracy. This is why we live in interesting times.

True, but that airplane is here on this earth(according to some theories anyway) and in the grand scheme of things, infinitely larger and easier to find that the center of the universe.

People have been openly working on astrology for hundreds of years now, before that, anyone who dared say that we weren't the center of the universe was burned to the stake. Let's apply that same amount of time to finding this small plane, I'm sure it'll eventually come up. Besides, it's really not very difficult to hide an aircraft, even one of that size. It could very well be sitting in a hangar somewhere out of view. Even a aircraft plant was kept hidden for years: http://www.amusingplanet.com/2010/12/how-military-hid-lockheed-burbank.html

Is there evidence of anything else?

If you think about it, what would become the matter in our bodies touched EVERYTHING in the universe back then. We're kind of "timeless" even though we only live for 80-100 lousy years! lol

Inflation, where the universe does what it wants, mocking time and absolute light speed because it can! And just imagine how WEIRD the beginning might have been where all LAWS break down or are absolutely USELESS! Hubris! Never a good thing in ANY discipline, Horatio!

I've seen some of the polk forum members audio equipment on here....I wouldn't mind beaming some of it to my house. Would that be considered ingenious or theft?
