Samsung 4K TV (my take)

Decided to take the plunge and got the Samsung UN55F9000. So far I am really impressed. Not too concerned that 4K material is for the most part non existent, as it will be soon, but more concerned with what we are seeing and that is one incredible picture!!. We had the LG LM6700 55" and it took a dump on us. so when checking out new sets, this one was offered as an open box for a great price and so glad I snagged it. Setting it up was a breeze and the picture quality is just amazing. Samsung seems to have great customer service and I think we made a great decision. Anyone else own this set??

    Got the same one best picture hands down however my connect box went bad not to encouraging on a 2800 dollar purchase. I spent 3days 3 different calls 3 hours of my time I had to diagnose the problem their customer service reps don't even know the product they thought the connect box was a game box I finally got through to an ERC rep the upper end of their pitiful customer service. Before they took care of me. If your unit keeps shutting on and off its your connect box. Awesome set though and they are replacing the box for me.

    This is exactly what scares me off from getting any___ Samsung product. Pathetic CS.

    Very few companies have any decent CS now.

    I've noticed a really crappy trend where they push it off on the retailers to step up and take care of people.

    Samsung customer service sucks. I will never by another Samsung TV. I had a bad experience.

    I actually bought a Samsung tv today after swearing I'd never buy another product from them. Ultimate they had the option that best fit my very specific needs so I pulled trigger. I also purchased the 5 yr extended warranty from Best Buy so that when this thing fails I never have to interact with samsung customer service.

    My advice, if you're buying a samsung tv make sure you purchase from a good retailer who will take care of you, because Samsung won't.

    I've enjoyed my last 2 Samsung panels, but agree on the customer service for both Samsung and most of the industry just going downhill.

    Most of the gear is just treated like 2-year throw-away items, even when you spend premium money on the high-end gear.

    Yeah the trick really is finding a good dealer and just working with them on everything. With a couple exceptions like Apple and Polk the less I can deal with a manufacturer the better.

    I am no techie and not even very smart when it comes to this stuff. I had a few questions when setting up and the reps I spoke with did a great job. I looked at the LG 4K model but the Samsung looked a lot nicer an had way more features. I just hooked up the cable box to the One Connect box and it all worked. All but the TV's aps..like netflix won't come through my ststem, so now I will have to figure out why that is?? I have not tried the 3D feature yet, but regular TV is so much nicer than the LG I had and even nicer than the LG Plasma I have in the bedroom. I hope I don't have too many problems to where I have to call Samsung if the service is all as bad as I am hearing. Thanks for the input. Love the TV Picture. March Madness is here!!

    Here she is all alone notice the one connect cable just waiting for the connect box, the least thing Samsung could do is expidite shipping on the damn thing. I have to admit though there is not a better picture than the 9000 series I looked at the Sony and LGs side by side the Samsung had the best display, what good does that do me, curse on Samsung C/S and support. The only picture I'm getting isa reflection of myself. Once the walls get Painted its going to be wall mounted so it is in a temporary spot right now.

    Please take my advice and get a warranty through the retailer. You do NOT want to risk the chance of having to deal with Samsung! I'm normally not big into buying warranties but I'll make an exception for these guys.

    Samsung has a history of a few TV models that are problematic (there are posts here and elsewhere on this) and then there are a few of us here who've had really bad luck with their CS. The majority of their models are fine, but you never know how yours will last and when things do go wrong they do NOT stand behind their product. They basically told me to go screw myself when I had a TV go bad a week out of warranty...

    I did just buy an extended warranty, much for a much lower price than HHGregg offers and same coverage with a company that has great reviews. Getting to know and understand the set, Mine was made in Dec. 2013 and included was the newer One connect box that will take me through all of 2014. Samsung is sending me a couple of 4K movies for free as they do for all owners of this set, so that will be fun. In the meantime, the picture quality is far better than anything I have seen in this category and with the extended warranty for 4 years, I wont have to deal with the said (not so great service) if Samsung. Now come on netFlix...bring on the 4K!!

    I have 6 Samsung flat panels in my house, and have yet to have one problem. My 55in Plasma I purchased 6-7 years ago still has the same picture it did when I bought it, and it's a 720p I love that TV, it moved into our bedroom when I purchased our 60in plasma 1080p four years ago, That one is my baby, everytime we watch it I could get up and rub my junk on it.. LOL!!!
