Today I finally received my nad 2700 , I currently have the 2600a . My plans were to bridge each amp to power my RTA15tl speaekers. I turned the volume on max on both amps and then used my yamaha a/v as the master volume. So immediately i noticed my 2600a plays louder than the 2700. I have to set my 2600a a little over 1/4 of the way to get the speakers to blend together. I did everything possible to pinpoint the problem, I even tried both on 2ch instead of mono and I achieved the same result. I tried powering each speaker with each reveiver and again the 2600a still plays louder.

So my question is, is the 2600a just made different where the signal is boosted more than the 2700 or do I perhaps have an issue somewhere with the 2700? The sound quality is the same both amps sound great , I just have to turn the volume up a lot more on my a/v unit when using the 2700 opposed to the 2600.

Also I get a lot more static noise out of my 2600 when the volume knob is turned up to max than with the 2700. (this is of course when no music is playing just volumes cranked up)

Static or hiss? Some hiss is usually normal.

just the hiss from the amp being on, hiss you would get out of any amp or receiver when turned up all the way. The 2700 produced much less hiss than the 2600.

The 2700 seems to have higher input sensitivity than the 2600a (1.2v vs 1.0v), it also has higher S/N ratio (122dB vs 110dB), and from your comments it might have a higher gain structure.

I guess thats a good and bad thing...how would i go about correcting this other than manually adjusting the volume and hope i get them close enough. It just bothers me knowing they're probably not playing at the exact same volume.

That is what the knobs are for is balancing the volume. I would turn them down until they have equal gain and acceptable hiss, and then control the overall volume with the Yamaha from there. Do you have a decibel meter?

I do not have a decibel meter , I should have looked into this before buying the 2700..live and learn lol

It really shouldn't be a problem and should sound great!

Put the 2700 on the highs for the bi-amp as the lower S/N ratio won't be heard on the woofers with the 2600a.

I don't have the ability to bi amp the speakers I'm using right now ... But yes I got it dialed in and they sound damn good . The bass comes in a lot quicker . Sounds much tighter and overall a lot clearer specially at louder volumes . Couldn't be any happier right now . . I do need a decibel meter so I can get it dialed in much more accurate , any recommendations .
