OPPO 103D and Bluray audio sample rate ?

I've played about 50 Bluray movies on my OPPO and it seems that the audio sample rate is always 48K, this is with SPDIF out or using OPPO's analog out. Is that all Bluray movie audio is ? Where is the 96 kHz/192 kHz audio ?
I feed the SPDIF to my Parrasound Zdac that upsamples the audio, should I not worry about what the OPPO sends out ? Do I have some setting (now at LPCM) in the OPPO wrong or I'm expecting higher rez out of the Bluray thats not really there ?
Would an HDMI ripper like the http://www.kanexpro.com/item/?id=HAECOAX change anything ?
Thanks.

Use the HDMI to your AVR.Political Correctness'.........defined

Use the hdmi out, as said, but also you need to setup the oppo. Tell it how you want it to process the audio and what output will be used. Digital coax won't pass the newer codecs in blu-ray, you need hdmi for that or 7.1 analog outputs.HT SYSTEM-

I don't have an AVR, running 2.1 setup with pre amp-power amp and DAC. Thats why I was thinking of this for the HDMI out to my DAC http://www.kanexpro.com/item/?id=HAECOAXSamsung PN64F8500, Parasound 2100 pre amp, Parasound 2250 v.2 amp, Parasound Zdac, OPPO 103D, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, Dual SVS PB 2000

That audio de-embedder you linked to will only do DD or DTS.
In your oppo setup menu, you have to tell it what speakers you have, and more importantly, which you don't. I'm not 100% sure on this, but it may act like a receiver does with missing speakers and reroute the missing speaker signals to the ones you do have. So that it can mix the hi-rez stuff into the 2.1 you have....but can only do that with analog out connections, not digital....other than hdmi of course.HT SYSTEM-

I've been following this thread as I'm in a similar boat with using older gear with no HDMI. I don't care about the video switching portion, however, it would be nice to get all the audio, and I was looking at OPPO for their 7.1 analog outs. Anyway, I just checked out that little converter you posted about. looks like a neat, handy little piece.
so you're not so much concerned with the channels as much as with the quality?
not exactly sure what you'd end up with, but it seems logical that it would convert to 2ch and pass the quality.
like tony asked, how do you have your OPPO set to output to optical, anyway? is it Bitstream PCM? this is what I use out from my tv to get my processor to be able to decode the surround, but I had to set it to do so.
have you contacted the manufacturer yet?I disabled signatures. -

Thanks, I know I have the OPPO set correct for down mix 2.1 analog out....I'll give OPPO a call and see whats going on.Samsung PN64F8500, Parasound 2100 pre amp, Parasound 2250 v.2 amp, Parasound Zdac, OPPO 103D, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, Dual SVS PB 2000 -
Ok got my answer...Got with OPPO and I had everything set correctly. Most Bluray's are 24/48kHz and maybe have some track extentions with higher rez.. If something is higher than 48kHz the OPPO will let me know.Samsung PN64F8500, Parasound 2100 pre amp, Parasound 2250 v.2 amp, Parasound Zdac, OPPO 103D, Monitor Audio Silver RX8, Dual SVS PB 2000
