Yamaha Cx-830 any experience with it?

Since my cd player has no way to control volume level and I think I'll be dusting off my turntable anyhow, I've decided to look for a decent pre for $200 or less so I can afford to get a new cartridge too. I can't find much on this preamp but what I have read is decent. Seller states nothing wrong with it other than the remote only controls volume and mute functions. I'm guessing this is a fairly old pre? Plan to mate it with a Parasound HCA1000.
